The Indianapolis Museum
The Indianapolis Museum will send one of the Blue Crown Specials, three-time Indy 500 winners, to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Other late news about the event is that the 1982 British title-winning Audi Quattro (LYV 4X) will be reunited with Hannu Mikkola, while Rod Millen will drive a monstrous Pikes Peak-winning Toyota. Other star attractions include Gerry Marshall in Vauxhall ‘Baby Bertha’, Desire Wilson in a Tyrrell and the current Bentley Le Mans racer. Also confirmed is that great all-rounder, Vic Elford.
Group-C racing
Group C Racing has switched dates for its visit to Magny-Cours. The series will now appear at the French GP track over the weekend of June 29/30 rather than at the end of August.
VSCC marks 50th anniversary
The VSCC will mark the 50th anniversary of the creation of the Lotus marque with a special Lotus race at its Silverstone meeting on September 21.
25-second mark
The 25-second mark has finally been beaten at Shelsley Walsh. In front of a spectating Stirling Moss, Graeme Wight Jnr lowered the record to 24.85sec on Sunday June 2 to claim a £1000 prize.
Ecurie Ecosse returns
Ecurie Ecosse returned to the Nurburgring recently. Inspired by Gregor Fisken, an Ecurie Ecosse-entered BMW M3 contested the 24-hour race on the Nordschleife. Almost 50 years ago, Ecosse’s Jaguar C-type `KSF 181′ won the Nurburgring 1000Km in the hands of Roy Salvadori and Ian Stewart.
Historic Sports Car Club
The Historic Sports Car Club has amassed more than 350 entries for its Brands Hatch Historic Superprix over the weekend ofJune 22/23.
