Sytner's 'box of tricks
Few of Frank Sytner’s wins will be harder earned than a storming Pre-66 HGPCA victory during the VSCC’s packed celebration of the British Empire at Donington Park.
Sytner had Richard Attwood in a similar Brabham BT4 as a rival, and to compound his problems, an incorrecdy assembled gearbox made every change an adventure into the unknown.
Nathan Kinch took both elements of the Group C feature, beating off a tough challenge from Justin Law in a battle of the Jaguars. In the soggy conditions of Sunday, both drivers recovered from spins at Redgate.
David Morris was another star in the gloom, twitching ERA R11B to Seaman Trophy honours. Equally, Mark Gillies’ assured handling of his Maserati 300S was rewarded with drum-braked sportscar victory.
Nick Linney (Listvx Jaguar Knobbly), Philip Walker (Lotus 16) and Gareth Burnett/Flavien Marcais (Talbot 105) were other notable winners.
