Cadwell short-circuited
HSCC Cadwell park & Silverstone
In May, the historic sports car club made its annual trek to the daunting Cadwell Park circuit in Lincs, though a shortage of marshals forced the club to switch to the shorter club circuit at the last moment.
Neil Fowler used his father’s Lola T200 to comfortably see off Paul Smith’s Jamun in the Historic Formula Ford race, while Steve Worrad claimed another Classic Racing Car victory in his Brabham BT28.
John Crowson clinched the Derek Bell Trophy at his home track with his Chevron B40, although Steve Parrott (Brabham BT40) ran him close. Two weeks later, the club moved to Silverstone and this time Worrad narrowly beat the Lotus 59 of Ian Jones. Nick Crossley joined in the Derek Bell races with his March 73A and blasted clear of Crowson. Other notable victories went to Michael Hibberd’s Lotus 27 in the AMOC FJ race and to Sid and Andrew Marler in the two-driver Historic Sports Car race in their Elan. PL
