Such Freedom...

Those whose thwarted ambition has been to drive freely round a proper race circuit now have their chance. Coys Chrysler-sponsored International Historic Festival is to include such an opportunity on July 31, over the full Silverstone GP circuit. On payment of £125 it seems that almost anyone will be able to drive their car on this Festival Track Day, with additional drivers at £20, each passenger of over 18 £5 each. The cars are presumed to be in sound order and high speeds are apparently envisaged, as the Coys guide to track driving includes advice on how to take the corners, from turn-in points to aiming for the clipping point or apex, and Mintex M171 brake pads are recommended.

The cars are intended to be classic and modern performance types — a pretty general classification — but getting drawn into a race is not encouraged. However, it is to be hoped that budding Hills and Schumachers will have a good time, fingers crossed, and that in the evening Coys will be laughing all the way to the Bank.
