British Formula Three Championship

This is probably the easiest preview I’ve ever had to write. Jan Magnussen has dominated this year’s championship to such an extent that it is difficult to see anybody else winning a race, let alone challenging the Dane for the championship. Magnussen’s Dallara, after a dodgy

start that saw him in the Copse tyre wall in first qualifying at the season-opener here in March, has been almost perfect. With everybody in Class A in a Dallara it should be a lot more even, but the diminutive youngster has continued Paul Stewart Racing’s amazing run of success over the last three years and has to start as the clear favourite. Magnussen’s PSR team-mate, Dario Franchitti, and West Surrey Racing’s Vin cent Radermecker are the only other winners this year, and both are more than capable of threatening Magnussen, as are Alan Docking Racing’s Gareth Rees, Intersport’s Scott Lakin and Fortec

Motorsport’s young Frenchman, leremie Dufour, all their Dallaras powered by Mugen-Honda engines. Vauxhall is pinning its hopes on Edenbridge Racing’s Brazilian duo, Marcos Gueiros and Luiz Garcia Inr and Fiat has Dino Morelli and Jamie Spence on its strength, whilst Marc Gene’s Mitsubishi

engined Alan Docking-run Dallara has been coming good of late and the two West Surrey Racing/Racing for Spain Dallaras-Renault should have new, improved power units for the race. The dark horse could be Italian championship leader and Monaco winner Giancarlo Fisichella. The RC Motorsport driver is still hoping to enter and if he can get enough time on the control Avons

and is able to learn the new Silverstone layout quickly, then Magnussen might have a battle on his hands.
