What's in a name?

Peugeot has introduced a special “Roland Garros” edition of the popular 205 model. The public relations blurb reminds us that Garros was a French aviator who died years ago, but says the new model is not named after him, but after the stadium where the French hold their tennis championships — to emphasise which the special edition has reddish-brown seat-belts to simulate the colours of a clay tennis court!

What rot! A closer link, seat-belt hue apart, would seem to be that Ettore Bugatti built chain-drive five-litre cars, one of which was used by Garros, and was also responsible for the Bebe Peugeot small-car. And more to the point, this luxury Peugeot 205 costs £8750, and only 600 will be made.
