Copies
I read with interest, and of course a good deal of amusement, D.S. J.’s recent excellent article on “Copy-cars”. Last year you road tested the Climax-engined Westfield Seven — a pure look-a-like if there ever was — despite the maker’s stated comments.
At least one member of this club has already substituted the Westfield nose badge on his car for one which bears a striking similarity (dare I say copy?) to that until very recently employed by the manufacturer whose reputation Westfield apparently seeks to exploit.
Perhaps Westfield, together with the makers of other replicas, should explain their somewhat conflicting and oft declared philosophy of non-association, with both the makers and owners clubs of the original cars they emulate, to their customers.
This club, incidentally, welcomes the owners of replicas, but not the hostile attitude of their constructors. Sutton Coldfield P. J. ROBINSHAW Competitions Secretary Lotus Drivers Club
