GRAND PRIX MODELS of Radlett, who are sponsoring Nick Mason’s BMW Mk.2 in Gp.5 racing, have recently added three new model kits to their enormous range of motor-racing miniatures. Two of these commemorate the 50th Le Mans 24-hour race, run last month, being an Ecurie Ecosse D-Type Jaguar, which won that event in 1957, and the Porsche 917 with which Richard Attwood was successful in 1970. The Jaguar kit is described as a high-fidelity metal-kit, whereas the Porsche kit is aimed at non-expert metal constructors. The “Classic” Jaguar kit costs £7.95, the Transkit Porsche kit, enabling an existing toy 917 to be made into the sole model of the 1970 winner, £3.98. Other Le Mans kits, of two Ford Gulf GT., the Le Mans winners of 1968 and 1969, are in preparation, and there is to be a kit of the Ford C100 from this year’s race, to retail at £8.95. — W.B.
