SUMMER ARRIVES IN ITALIAN ALPS.
THE great Dolomite Road, according to information received by the British representative of the Italian State Tourist Department in London, is now open for traffic. This year, owing to the speedier melting of the snows in the two famous high passes, the Pordoi Pass,
which is 7,355 feet high, and the Falzarego Pass, which is 6,945 feet high, the opening is nearly a week earlier than usual. The great Dolomite Road is one of the most remarkable of its kind in Europe. It extends from Bolzano to Dobbiaco, a
distance of about 90 miles, passing through Carezza (5,300 feet), Canazei (4,805 feet), Cortina (4,020 feet), and other Italian bill resorts.
The Alpine flora of the Dolomites is reputed to be amongst the finest in the world.
