NET-HERO’s carbon neutral hack for historic racers
Endurance rally specialist HERO-ERA will continue its drive towards carbon-zero motoring by running the UK’s first carbon-neutral rally team in the upcoming Roger Albert Clark Rally.
The NET-HERO Rally Team will field a 1973 Hillman Avenger 1600 GT for rally veteran Tony Jardine and co-driver Alan Harryman in the RAC on November 25-29, and the entirety of the team’s activities will be offset to the point of being carbon neutral.
The new NET-HERO system is a web-based application that allows motorists to calculate the carbon footprint of their own cars, and then purchase high-quality carbon credits to offset its environmental impact. Credits can support anything from afforestation to the restoration of peatlands.
Jardine’s car and the entire team’s movements – including its travel, support vehicles and staff accommodation – will be offset in this way during the event.
