Jack Brabham honoured
British motor sport saluted the amazing life and career of Sir Jack Brabham in a memorial held at Silverstone in October.
More than 400 people gathered at the circuit’s Wing to honour the three-time world champion, who died at the age of 88 in May. They included Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees, Tony Brooks and many others who raced against and worked with the Australian through the 1950s and ’60s.
Sir Jack’s wife, Lady Margaret, flew in to join the Brabham family, while Daniel Ricciardo and Mark Webber paid tribute by video. The memorial was organised for the majority in Britain who weren’t able to attend the Australian state funeral held for Sir Jack in June.
