Rosberg stays at Mercedes

Speculation about a possible future for Nico Rosberg at Ferrari has ended after the German extended his deal with Mercedes.

Already under contract for 2012, Rosberg has a ‘multi-year’ deal the team will only admit extends to ‘beyond 2013’.

This year Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button have all made similar long-term agreements with their teams. With drivers of that calibre now off the market Mercedes was clearly keen to secure the services of a man the team rates highly.

“I’m very comfortable,” said Rosberg. “I really saw this summer that this team means business.”

Michael Schumacher is contracted for 2012 but there is no news of any extension.
