A fitting memorial
Sir,
What more fitting memorial to the late Tom Wheatcroft could there be than to see the Donington Park circuit return to the control of more competent leaseholders who will return the circuit to its previous glory.
I well remember years of discomfort in the 1960s and early ’70s spectating at Silverstone, Snetterton, Mallory Park, and Oulton Park, etc. The delight to attend a circuit where it was possible to walk around, even in wet weather, without the need for wellington boots, and to have toilets that were not only clean but looked like attractive Swiss chalets was beyond joy. Sadly during recent years the ravages of poor management are beginning to show, but I am sure it can be returned to its former glory.
Mr Wheatcroft was also responsible for the memorial statues in the grounds of the museum. Surely his own could be added to the site.
God bless Tom. I hope his resting place has a circuit with a fast lap time.
