Hawke will fly again
The Hawke name is set to return to British racing when it builds a single-seater for the new Challenge Initiative series.
Now owned by former racer Barry Playle, Hawke last produced cars in 1979. It was noted for successful Formula Ford designs during the late 1960s and ’70s, with drivers including Nigel Mansell, Derek Warwick and Derek Daly.
Now Playle is gearing up to build a new-generation racing car for the 350bhp single-chassis formula conceived by Peter Wardle.
