Moggys in Oz

We hear that Morgan three-wheelers have been doing well in Australia. Stuart Harper and Phil Spencer sent their Moggys out by transporter, the Ware replica and the ex-Cyril 1935 Hale car, the latter with a 13:1 cr in its 1300cc JAP engine, which caused it to consume all the spare pistons that had accompanied it. Harper was ninth, Spencer sixth at Oran Park, Sydney races and Harper won a scratch race at the Amaroo Park motorcycle meeting, still with two-speed transmission and single rear-wheel band brake.

Spencer, as an ex-sidecar racer, was loaned a 350cc Manx Norton to compensate for the non-start of his Morgan, and in the Paddock an Aussie thrust 100 dollars into his hand, saying “Keep it mate, for the pleasure the Morgans gave us.” WB.
