Last month we referred in the “In Miniature” article to a scale model of the LSR car “Babs” made for the Castrol oil company, that has disappeared since it was shown at a 1927 Motor Show. There is a sort of follow-up to this in the fact that last November a silver model of Sir Malcolm Campbell’s LSR “Bluebird”, that had taken the record to 272.46 mph at Daytona and which had been made to commemorate the use of Pratts Ethyl petrol on that occasion, was presented by Gina Campbell to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. The Anglo American Oil Co., which marketed Pratts Ethyl fuel, became Esso and the model was displayed in their London office until 1962, after which during a move, it disappeared into store. It was found last year and having been repaired, was presented to the NMM by Campbell’s granddaughter

One wonders whether the model of “Babs”, more in the engineering idiom rather than a silver replica, will ever be found in this way, — W.B.
