Organisational change at the British Light Aviation Centre

The British Light Aviation Centre Ltd., the controlling company of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of the UK, announces two new part-time appointments. These follow the resent retirement of Godfrey Harwood, who served on the staff as Company Secretary and as Editor of the AOPA house magazine Light Aviation.

David Ogilvy, who recently relinquished his full-time post as General Manager of the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden (but who will continue to organise the Collection’s displays, promotion and publicity on a consultancy basis), becomes editor of Light Aviation; Derek Jones founder and, until recently, Secretary of the Mona Flying Club on Anglesey, is the new Company Secretary. Both are Executive Directors of BLAC Ltd., and, with Ron Campbell as Chairman, they form the Management Executive Committee of AOPA-UK.

This forms a part of a re-organisation process within AOPA to provide a centre that is geared to the needs of the private pilot and aircraft owner on a cost-effective basis. This change has included establishing a fixed membership year ending on 31st March, so anyone who joins now obtains full benefit until 31st March 1982 for payment of only a year’s subscription.
