The Dictum of C. G. G.

Sir,

Re your October, 1974, issue, p. 1110 letter from H. R. B. Waters of S. Africa, in which he refers to a Dictum of the late C. G. Grey of The Aeroplane. He quotes this as “Simplificate and add more lightness”. I suggest, firstly, that the correct version is “Simlicate and add more lightness”, and that it originated from an American Aircraft Manufacturer, in or about 1924, after a few minutes glance at his Design Team’s work of many months? Should not Mr. Waters Rectificate and add more Rightness?
