“‘Aeromodeller’ Annual – 1963-64.” Compiled and edited by D. J. Laidlaw-Dickson and R. G. Moulton. 149 PP. 8 1/2 in x 5 7/8 in. (Model Aeronautical Press, Ltd, 38 Clarendon Road, Watford, Herts. 10s. 6d.)

This is another title outside the usual scope of Motor Sport, but it is one welcomed, nevertheless, by a considerable proportion of motoring enthusiasts, particularly for its model i.c. engine analysis, for there is something particularly fascinating about working model engines ranging in size from 0.327 c.c. to 8.29 c.c. and running up to over 20,000 r.p.m.! The production of these little engines, costing, of those test-reported on it. “Aeromodeller Annual,” from £3 2s. to £11 19s., is a major industry and before we scorn them, let me remind you that the model aeroplane absolute speed record now stands at 316 k.p.h. (U.S.S.R.), the World’s height record at 4,152 metres, the distance record at 378.7 km. and the duration record at 9 hr. 4 min. All these facts, together with innumerable plans and photographs are found in this indispensable annual. – W. B.
