The following stop-press statement from the Hon. B. G. Rootes of Devonshire House has been received re the forthcoming Hillman Apex, Ajax, Imp or what have you:

“There have been a number of Press reports recently claiming to reveal details of the new small Hillman car which is being developed by the Rootes Group for production in Scotland.

“To clear up any misunderstanding on the part of your readers I would like to make it clear that no official statement or details have been issued by this Company concerning the specifications of the car.

“At present this model is on our secret list and it will remain there until its public announcement towards the middle of this year.

“As you know, you and your staff will be given every facility to compile for your readers an authoritative report and appraisal of the new model to coincide with the announcement.”
