Letters From Readers - One View of the Racing Car Show, March 1975
Sir, The International Racing Car Show used to be an event to look forward to - alas, no more! Everything D.S.J. said in "The Formula One Scene" (MOTOR SPORT, January)…
THE BEST AT THE MOTOR SHOW
Sir,
After having had a good look around at this year’s Motor Show, I was surprised to note that subsequent issues of your journal hardly mentions the car which, in my opinion, was the best value. I mean the Skoda Octavia at £606.
This price for a to oo-c.c. car includes undersealing, heater, independent suspension on all four wheels, hand-brake operating on all four wheels, radiator blind, windscreen washers wheels balanced, reclining seats, boot locked from inside car, coid a tool kit, pump and starting handle. It would be interesting to hear other readers’ comments on this
car, particularly those who have experienced ownership. I understand that it did very well in the Monte Carlo Rally and the only fault I could find (in my opinion a bad one) was the position of the hand-brake. When they alter this I shall probably buy one, even if it is made in Czechoslovakia.
I would mention that I have no interest in the car other than as a prospective purchaser.
