Transvaal Grand Prix (December 9th)

Held at Johannesburg on the new 2.5-mile Kyalama Circuit, the works Lotus Team had a field day, with Clark leading teammate Trevor Taylor across the line by a few feet. The works Porsches were badly delayed in getting to South Africa due to the boat running into storms and having engine trouble. Bonnier and Barth started the race late, the field having completed nearly a lap before they were ready to go, but in spite of this they both drove hard and finished 3rd and 4th.
