Corvair Leads
The first published figures for sales of the three rival American “small cars,” the Chevrolet Corvair, Ford Falcon and Chrysler-Plymouth Valiant, show that in the first month (October 1959) 23,759 Corvairs sold in the U.S.A., compared to an estimated 18,000 Falcons. This is a notable triumph for the air-cooled horizontally-opposed rear-placed engine and independent rear suspension.
