Blue Peter
A very good party was experienced on November 29th last when WJ Wood and Son, Ltd., took over most of the Queen’s Hotel at Westcliff-on-Sea for the purpose of presenting the Blue Peter Sales Challenge Cup to Monty Wood of WJ Wood and Son, Ltd. The winning of this Cup signified that Mr Wood had sold more Blue Peter retreads than any other dealer in the South. Some 2,000,000 tyres are retreaded in this country every year, and that we have great faith in the quality of Blue Peter retreads sterns as much from a visit to their factory some time ago as from enjoyment of the dinner and slick cabaret show which they put on at the Queen’s ; although had you seen the revellers leaving this high-pressure party around 3 am, Blue Peter trade flag fluttering from the flag-mast above their parked cars, you might have been justified in thinking otherwise.
Tyres now constitute a very heavy item of motoring expenditure, especially to those who drive the faster cars and so consume more rubber. Retreads are a logical means of reducing this-expenditure, and it is reassuring to find many instances of retreaded tyres being used satisfactorily in rallies and even in sprint events. Blue Peter have agents throughout the country and operate from Auto Tyre Services, Basingstoke (Basingstoke 404-5,6).
