Motor Sport held a party at its offices last November, attended by many notabilities from the motor trade and sporting world, for the purpose of showing the Esso films. These included a full-length film of Le Mans, 1951, in which the only thing lacking were shots of the dramatic night-session (don’t Esso’s cameras work after dark ?), and some amusing and topical “shots,” in album form, of motor and motor-cycle racing, gymkhanas, the Dorking veteran car speed trial, etc. 

On December 6th, the W Essex CC held its fourth annual dinner and dance (the dancing to Howard Baker and his band), with Tommy Bird as Toastmaster and MC Eric Findon, Trevor Jones, Tommy Anderson and Charles Fothergill spoke, Mrs T Anderson presented the prizes and the evening went with a decided swing. 

The Hants & Berks MC had a buffet supper at its presentation of awards at the Grove Hall Hotel, Twyford, on December 12th, followed by dancing and party-games devised by J Lowrey, BSc. The guest-speakers were Sir Algernon Guinness, Bt, and Laurence Pomeroy, MSAE, and Lady Guinness presented the many prizes. The Club is noted for its stiff Night Navigation trials and it was felt that the fog which confronted the revellers as they attained their cars in the am had been specially laid-on by the Club on this occasion.
