TR2's winning duo
Sir,
I enjoyed reading about the Triumph TR2/3 in the January issue, especially the early history. Unfortunately, there is an error in the quote from Ken Richardson about the first competition appearance of the TR2 in the 1954 RAC Rally. John Wallwork did indeed win outright – not with John Cooper as mentioned, but with my godfather John Harold Brooks. The TR2 scored a 1-2 in the rally, the second-placed car being driven by Peter Cooper, which may be where the confusion came from.
