A celebration to mark 50 years of Team Lotus is to be staged this summer by the son of the marque’s late founder, Colin Chapman.

Classic Team Lotus, the historic racing and preparation company run by Clive Chapman, is organising the public open day at Group Lotus’ Hethel test track on July 17-18.

Chapman aims to have up to 20 Formula One cars demonstrated at the event, along with examples of Lotus sportscars.

It is hoped that the very first Mk8 sportscar, produced in 1954 when Team Lotus was formed as an offshoot of Lotus Engineering, will also attend.
