Chinese government officals have signed an agreement to permit a re-run of the Peking-Paris race in 1997, 90 years after the celebrated adventures of Prince Borghese in his ltala. Philip Young has returned from Peking with plans to ship 50 classic and vintage cars to the Chinese capital, from where they will cross the Asian continent via Tibet, Nepal, northern India, Pakistan, Iran and Turkey. and thence by Greece and Italy to Paris. The five-week trek will be the first competitive Peking to Paris event since that pioneering trip, immortalised in Luigi Barzini’s compelling book. More details from the Rally Office on 0892 524746.
