Lola T70
Lola T70 –– The Racing History & Individual Chassis Record, by John Starkey. Veloce Publishing PLC, £40.
The Lola T70 was an important car in 1960s motor racing terms. Eric Broadley had hoped it would replace the Ford GT40, which he considered too conservative!
The T70 was quite a car, taking John Surtees to the 1966 Can-Am title and recording numerous successes in Group 7 races, in the hands of such drivers as Denny Hulme, David Hobbs and Brian Redman.
The author, who spent four years writing the book, is well qualified to deal with the subject. He has owned and raced numerous classic cars, and last season competed in a Lola T70 Mk3B coupé. Lola T70 is cornprehensive, all the way down to its individual chassis record, and the pictures, including a full colour centrespread, breathe the very spirit of the T70 and its racing achievements.
