Imola .6 May Imola is in the heart of Ferrari

Imola is right in the heart of Ferrari country where the Italian fans display a sporting fervour of an intensity rarely seen in any other place, or indeed, in any other sport. Almost as Impressive as the wall of noise that accompanies a passing Ferrari, was the total Silence after Berger’s horrific crash during last year’s race. Thankfully, Berger will race again at Imola this year, although not in a Ferrari. All the adulation from the Tifosi in 1990 will be reserved for the new Ferrari pairing of Mansell and Prost. Mansell has already made his mark but more interesting will be the reaction of the Italians to their erstwhile French enemy.

Away from the frantic atmosphere of the track are to be found more relaxing pastimes such as wining and dining the Italian way in this most beautiful part of Italy. The gently rolling Lombardy hills sweep down to Italy’s Adriatic coast and provide the perfect antidote to the furious activity of the Ferrari autodromo.
