The World Sports-Prototype Championship has been crying out for the equivalent of an Autocourse for a few years now — unfortunately this book does not provide the answer. It does, however, fill a gap.

Printed in German, English and French, it is a good record of the 1989 season and is full of interesting and pertinent facts, but what makes the book of particular value is the fact that it does not limit itself to the World Championship scene, but includes chapters on IMSA, the All-Japan Sports Prototype Championship, the Sat 1 Supercup and Interserie. The picture quality is good, but the choice of photographs poor. Too often one comes across a double page spread where all the cars are going from left to right or front three quarter, which makes for a dull presentation. Worse, though, they are uncaptioned, so you have no idea what the car is, where the picture was taken and who was driving. Having said that, the book is worth buying for sports car fans, and the importers, Menoshire Ltd, must be congratulated for selling it in Britain at £29.95 when in Germany, its home market, it sells for a massive DM98.00 (nearly £40.00!).
