Invicta fairing

Your kind remarks about the 11/2-litre Invicta (Motor Sport, October 1987) were much appreciated, but I do feel I owe it to posterity to put the record straight.

As you are no doubt aware the 11/2-litre caused so much excitement on its introduction in 1930 that the works started to take its performance most seriously. Not only must it have the lowest bottom gear, but the ability to cheat the wind at the top end of its speed range.

They therefore devised the fairing so astutely spotted by yourself at Madresfield, but sadly they only fitted it to the handbrake ratchet mechanism not to the door hinges— otherwise who knows what other heights this model would have aspired to?
