An ambitious new circuit
According to the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Mr. G. Vowles is planning a new 4¼-mile race track in Matchams Park near Ringwood, the cost of which is estimated at some £110,000. He estimates that the 30 ft. wide course, with three bridges and strategically-placed grandstand, could be completed in 12 months. Mr. Vowles has held a town planning licence to build the track since 1954. In the past there have been many rumours of new tracks, at Brighton, in the Chilterns, at Birmingham near Cobham, and so on, but none has materialised, but we shall watch the Matchams Park project with interest.
