100 IN THE HOUR

Sir,

After over two trouble-free years driving my 356 Porsche, may I endorse all ” D. S. J.’s ” remarks on his experience with his ?

My only trouble has been a broken speedometer cable, the break being in the line of the king-pin.

My maximum speed has been 102 m.p.h. on the level, helped by a tail-wind. This speed was ” clocked ” on the revolution-indicator during the time my speedo.-cable was broken.

The camshaft on these engines is, however, below the crankshaft, it being well lubricated and allowing the oil from the rocker gear to drain back to the sump via the push-rod cover-tubes. Is it really true that there are only four cams for the eight valves ? [Yes.—ED. I atn, Yours, etc.,
