A T210 with a quirky history is being offered for sale by Speedmaster Cars in Yorkshire on behalf of its owner. One of the earliest T210s to roll out of Lola’s Slough factory, SL03 was purchased by Swiss Karl Foitek, who along with Peter Monteverdi took over the Onyx Formula 1 team for which his son Gregor briefly drove in 1990.
Foitek Snr, who bought the car through European importer Jo Bonnier in Geneva, campaigned SL03 with distinction through the 1970 and ’71 seasons in local races and on the hills, as the history file that comes with the car relates. More recently, this Lola has competed successfully in historic events around Europe with Charlie Kemp and current owner David Tomlin, who took the car to the Le Mans Classic in 2018.
The Group 6 prototype has been maintained and run for Tomlin by Raceworks Motorsport in Royston. Speedmaster’s James Hanson says: “It is on the button and ready to go”. It comes with a Geoff Richardson Cosworth FVC recently rebuilt by JS Motorsport, a limited spares package that includes three sets of wheels, and up-to-date HTP papers.
“The car has interesting period race history and has proved competitive in Masters events with both its previous owner and David,” continues Hanson. “It offers the opportunity to race at Le Mans Classic. There may be cheaper recreations around, but you are less likely to get an entry for Le Mans.”
The car is currently listed at £230,000.
