Motor Sport Hall of Fame: voting opens
The Motor Sport Hall of Fame returns for its glittering annual showpiece on June 4 at Woodcote Park, which means it’s now over to you. This is your opportunity to ensure your motor sport hero joins the already illustrious stable of racing greats. After more than 21,000 votes, 2017’s inductees were Nigel Mansell, Barry Sheene, Roger Penske and Brian Redman, while Murray Walker and David Richards inaugurated the Inspiration and Industry Champion awards. You can watch highlights of the 2017 event, including stirring speeches by each of the winners, by visiting www.motorsportmagazine.com/halloffame
Once again, you’ll vote on the Formula 1, US racing, motorcycling, and sports cars categories, with the Motor Sport Industry Champion and the Inspiration Award winners chosen by our editorial team.
The four shortlists of 12 have been debated and – eventually – decided. New names in the running include Phil Hill, WO Bentley and John Cooper. The usual rules remain – namely no current drivers and riders allowed – which means Jenson Button has joined the F1 contenders, too.

FIRST PARTNERS JOIN HOF 2018
The Motor Sport Hall of Fame is made all the more distinguished by the contributions of our partners and we are delighted to confirm the return of several companies that supported the event last year
No motor sport event is complete without a timing partner, and once again Christopher Ward will be fulfilling that role at next year’s Hall of Fame. Run by fully fledged racing enthusiasts, Christopher Ward is the ideal partner for Motor Sport and we are pleased to continue our association.
H&H Classics, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018, is joining us for a second year as the official Hall of Fame auction partner, following the success of last year’s sale. Details of 2018’s corresponding event (on June 5) will be revealed in the coming months. Visit www.handh.co.uk for more information.
Princess Yachts returns as the official sponsor of the F1 category. From humble beginnings in 1965, Princess has become one of the market leaders in luxury yachts and the shipyard of choice for many in the F1 paddock. You’ll see ample evidence during the GP weekends in Monaco and Abu Dhabi, for instance.
We have a new car club partner this year, with Porsche Club Great Britain providing a display at the Royal Automobile Club. The German marque will be celebrating 70 years in 2018 – and many Hall of Fame inductees (and nominees) achieved significant sporting successes with the Stuttgart marque.
We welcome Race Retro as our event partner once again. The international historic motor sport show (February 23-25, 2018) will be “Powered by Motor Sport” for a second year. There will be a hall dedicated to the magazine and its Hall of Fame. Tickets for the show can purchased at www.raceretro.com.
