TWR AND JAGUAR’S XJS

INSIDE TOM WALKINSHAW’S GROUP A RACING TEAM by Allan Scott

Aficionados of Tom Walkinshaw Racing will know Allan Scott as one of the team’s earliest employees, becoming manager of the Race Engine Division

H 1979. He is therefore very wellplaced to give an account of TWR’s assault on Group A Racing. The book is filled with detail; closeup photos of suspension assemblies, invoices and race calendars abound, but what really brings it to life are the personal accounts of life and racing within the operation. When an ex-employee writes about theft time H a company, it can sometimes come off as excessively biased. But Scott while clearly highly respectful of his late boss is understanding of Walkinshaw’s reputation in the racing word. He explains rather than taking sides, making his accounts of the team’s impressive successes at Donington, Brno and Bathurst ring all the more true.
