• Japanese historic single-seater racer Katsu Kubota won the Historic Formula 2 Championship after a mighty season in the March 712 he runs from the Colin Bennett stable. Kubota, who also drives a Williams FW07 in Historic F1, clinched the title at the final weekend at Dijon in France.

• The New Zealand Silver Fern Rally will go ahead as planned from November 14-20 and will not be affected by the recent earthquakes that struck the Christchurch region of the South Island. The rally will start in Christchurch and run clockwise around the south island, covering over 500 stage miles.

• Historic FF1600 champion Darren Burke made history by winning all 14 races this season in his Macon MR8. Burke, 24, now hopes to step up to the Porsche Carrera Cup in 2011.

• Rally driver Tony Thompson was injured during the Trackrod Historic Cup in Yorkshire when he was struck by another car after getting out of his Vauxhall Chevette to solve a misfire during a stage. The Northumberland garage owner was airlifted to hospital with a broken femur.

• The 2011 Shelsley Walsh calendar will take in six weekends of hillclimbing at the famous Worcester venue, capped by the British hillclimb event on August 20/21. Other dates include the vintage event on July 3 and the classic event on July 24.

• The annual Rally Show will have a new venue and date for 2011, moving from Chatsworth House to Cornbury Park in Oxfordshire on May 14/15. The mile-long asphalt stage will take in sections used on the RAC Rally in the 1990s.

• Nigel Mansell, John Surtees and Jonathan Palmer will flag away the 38th Beaujolais Run from Brands Hatch on November 16. The charity event, which finishes in Burgundy, takes place as the new crop of Beaujolais Nouveau wine becomes available.

• Bobby Rahal’s Legends of Motorsports series has released its dates for 2011. Events will take place at Barber Motorsports Park on May 20-22, Circuit Mont-Tremblant in Canada on July
8-10 and at Sebring International Raceway on December 2-4.
