The Bristol Owners Club

The Bristol Owners Club (secretary G Hawkins, 1 Tails Lane, Fenstation, Huntingdon, Cambs PE28 9JJ) has as good and glossy magazine as any. The current issue contains an account of the formation of the Bristol Company’s car division and how the Bristol 400 was created. Rightly, Tony Crook is the club’s Patron. I road-tested the 401, 404 (below) and 411 models in their day and had a great admiration for all of them, although I thought it more fun to have to use the gearbox to persuade the 2-litre engine to perform than to loll in the later luxury of American litres and self-change transmission. But all were top luxury cars and today are. I suggest, the most exclusive of all British offerings.
