Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Macau Grand Prix, a Le Mans start began the historic Golden Jubilee Cup on Macau’s streets in November.

The race was won comfortably by Simon Hadfield in his Lotus 30, ahead of Frank Sytner’s Lola T70 Spyder. Hadfield was making amends for earlier losing the thrilling GP Anniversary Trophy race to Sytner after swapping leads over a dozen times. On the final lap Sytner passed Hadfield going into the last corner and won by 0.2sec.

Denis Welch finished both races in third place in his Lotus 23B, while Julian Bronson (Lister Costin) and Jac Nellemann (Lotus 17) shared the honours for cars built from 1950-59.

David Piper escaped unhurt after he crashed into the tyre wall on the last corner in his Ferrari 275LM.

Albert Poon returned to the rostrum 39 years after he won the Macau GP, with victory in the Mini race.
