Festival of speed
Video- Festival of speed 2000 Produced by Goodwood RRC, £14.95
To be frank, with a video to review and a deadline approaching, I was ready to fast-forward through this. After all, I was there, I’ve seen most of the cars — surely this would just be a replay. Wrong. I watched the whole thing, and enjoyed it. It’s fronted by people who know and love cars, and it shows, whether it is Alain de Cadenet and Doug Nye discussing a Grand Prix FIAT, or Fl journalist Peter Windsor chatting to Alan Jones before he tackles the hill. The action is mixed with diversions such as Napier history, Bob Tullius on Group 44, and McI aren’s early years. And among many stately ascents, there’s a terrific in-car sequence of Martin Stretton breaking the hill record in his Tyrrell P34. One warning, this video is 1hr4Omin long. Don’t start watching at lOpm or you’ll be up late writing your review. GC
