COYS FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE GP 50TH

FIFTY YEARS OF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Grand Prix racing is set to be the sensational central theme of next year’s BRDC Coys International Historic Festival. More Formula One legends than ever before are likely to take part, as Silverstone brings out the big guns to rival Goodwood’s Motor Circuit Revival as the greatest historic race meeting on the calendar.

Organisers are hoping to attract more than 40 title-winning cars and subject to finalisation of the millennium’s Formula One calendar the majority of the 16 living World Champion drivers (with 27 titles between them).

The thrust of the multi-faceted fixture expected to be confirmed in its traditional late July slot, despite talk of a move to June or late August is obvious, since Silverstone hosted the very first championship round, won by Italy’s Giuseppe Farina in his Alfa Romeo 158 on May 13, 1950.
