Dr Pinkerton writes about the special constructed by Mr Chevell based on a Speed 20 chassis and a 4.3-litre dry sump engine of Alvis design and construction.

This car is without doubt one of the best Alvis specials ever made and I do not agree that it should be called the Chevell Special, ignoring the name of the firm without which it would not exist.

The modern dropping of marque names is a nonsense, so let us not fall into the same trap when dealing with historic vehicles — this car should be known as the Alvis Chevell special.
