In the past the Vintage Sports Car Club has often undertaken to do the handicapping for races for Vintage and p.v.t. cars held at other clubs’ meetings to which V.S.C.C. members have been invited. This handicapping was always based on the known performance of the cars and, though not infallible, has frequently resulted in reasonably close finishes.

Recently it has been found that some clubs, after asking the V.S.C.C. to do the handicaps, have then altered them, despite announcing that the handicapping was the work of the V.S.C.C. In addition, clubs have been known to accept late entries unknown to the handicappers, and cars which do not conform with the V.S.C.C. regulations. Whilst they have a right to do this, it does make life difficult, if not impossible, for V.S.C.C. handicappers.

In view of this unsatisfactory state of affairs, my Committee has regretfully decided that the V.S.C.C. cannot in future undertake to handicap races for vintage and p.v.t. cars at meetings held by other clubs.
