The Taplin Engine
In “Rumblings” last month we referred to the Taplin two cylinder model marine engine as if it was an E.D. product. In fact, it is made by the Birchington Engineering Co. Ltd., Albion Road, Birchington, Kent. We would like to see one of these realistic engines in a large scale model of a racing or record-breaking car, which should surely be able to establish some imposing long-duration runs.

Club News
The recently formed Volkswagen Club–Wales has received R.A.C. recognition and has been affiliated to the VW Owners’ Club (Great Britain). A series of social and competitive events have been arranged for the winter months. Interested VW owners should contact Mr. W. V. Machin, 54, Heathway, Cardiff.

Another recently formed VW Club is the Midland Centre of the V.W.O.C. Club nights are held on the last Tuesday of each month. The Club Secretary is Mr. A. S. Harrison, 17, Saint Johns Road, Shire Oak, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffs.

The British Salmson Owners’ Club remind us that they have been in existence for eight years and that membership is now up to about 50 including some American members. The recent correspondence in Motor Sport has shown the interest in the British and French Salmson and the Club Secretary would like to recruit any interested readers into the Club. Annual subscription is 10s., for which one obtains the quarterly Newsletter and much valuable assistance.

On December 1st the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club will hear a talk at The Chequers, Cassington, near Oxford, at 7.30 p.m., from Mrs. Phillips, the daughter of the late Mr. Charles Sykes, who designed the flying mascot.
