We referred briefly last month to a fine electrically-driven 1957 Vanwall Grand Prix car made by Tri-ang in their “Minic” series of motor-car miniatures. This is to 1/20-scale and is beautifully made and finished, with stub-axle steering and rubber tyres. It costs 29s. 6d., measures 8¾ in. long, has a steering wheel, instruments, white-overalled driver and the wrap-round screen and exhaust system of the original, etc., and carries the racing number 26. Motive power is provided by two Ever Ready U11 dry batteries. Tri-ang make a number of other car models, including a Rolls-Royce saloon, a make this model firm has included in its range for some years.

Lesney have again excelled themselves in the ” Models of Yesteryear ” series, the two latest being a 1908 G.P. Mercedes, that exciting giant racer with bolster fuel tank and two spare tyres strapped pn behind, which won the French Grand Prix that year, driven by Lautenschlager, and afterwards enlivened races at Brooklands, and an excellent, very detailed replica of an Aveling and Porter steamroller, complete with flywheel, canopy and divided, pivoted roller. The scale of the roller is 80:1. These are splendid little models, a “must” for Christmas tree and subsequent study decoration.

The latest Meccano “Dinky” miniature is of quite an unusual subject for a model, being an A. C. Aceca coupé, complete with transparent screen and windows, detachable rubber tyres and duo-tone finish. You can buy this replica, which is 3½ in. long, for 3s. 3d.
