BRAZILLAN OPINION

Sir,

I have been very interested in the controversy regarding the Frazer-Nas}s in your ” readers’ columns,” and I should like to heartily endorse Mr. Alan K. Clerk’s sentiments. As long as I can remember, Mr. W. If. Aldington has been using these columns for advertisement. and I must congratulate your readers taking this matter up and you, sir, in publishing such letters.

‘acre in Sao Paulo the Nlereetles agent found a very ingenious way oh’ advertising which some British sports car manufaetimers may like to copy. In Sao Paulo, where the car market is free front restrictions, the 170V and the 1701) MereMes do not sell very well. Therefore the agent staged a 94-hour race at the local track at Inter Lagos only for MercedesBenz cars. He was very happy to announce after the race that Mercedes captured the first fourteen places. Actually the Mercedes performed very well as Inter Lagos is a very trying course. Iii South America there is a great interest in records and races, and all successes such as Jaguar and Austin are

well publicised. It you’d be very line if Austins could be persuaded to make one of their record attempts here.

Everyone would like to see tlw BALM. in Rio and Buenos Aires in January next year. If it is not ready is it possible to put a Jaguar engine in that. chassis and use that, as the advertisement from starting and completing the course would lie well worth the effort ? Italian and French cars will in time challenge the American supremacy due to the younger generation taking such an interest in Ferraris, Alfas and Talbot:4. and since I.e Mans jaguar has about the best name of any car here, in the larger class. I Should like to finish by saying how much. I enjoy Mo’r’ut Scorer and have always done since 1933, although I do not agree with ‘V.13.’s rating or the Morgan so high or the A40 Austin Sports S.0 am, Yours, etc.,
