On November 29th, the Vintage Sports Car Club held a very attractive trial starting and finishing from that pleasant Bear Inn on Rodborough Common, open (both inn and trial !) to the Bugatti Owners’ Club and the United Hospitals and University of London M.C. A. route Of about twenty-five miles was taken in two circuits. The entry fee was
7/6, there were no intermediate checks, and competition covets were barred.
Eighteen started and fifteen finished. Stancombe failed Marcus Chambers, Tim .C.arson and A. M. Elliott, whose old
school Bentleys shied at the conditions. In the acceleration test; J. U. Allason clocked 12k sees. with his Bentley, beating M. A. Allfrey’s Ford Vs by A sec. Ferriscourt stopped (;. W. Allan’s Lancia and Elliott’s Bentley, Bus.sage
caught Elliott and C. Tomlinson (Austin Seven), and in the special fast-slow timed test on Knopp, the best performer was R. W. Shakespeare’s O.M. Bownham .stopped Miss I)obson Tomlinson (Austin), Allfrey (Ford), Allan (Lancia), W. J. Styles (Hillman Aero Minx), Chambers (Bentley), and Carson (Bentley). In the afternoon Carson stopped on Stancombe, everyone got up Ferriscourt, Tomlinson stopped again on Buss.age. and Bownham , now aided by a heavy shower, failed Tomlinson. D. Hamilton Moore (Bentley), Allan, and
Carson. Allfrey, Po-Ace (12-50 Alvis) and Shakespeare went up fast, scattering mud in all directions. RESULTS
