Blown Golf
Blown Golf TURBO TECHNICS of Northampton has introduced a turbo conversion for the Golf GTi. The company claims 150 bhp, a top speed of 125 mph and 0-60 mph acceleration…
This 1991 manual NSX has, according to owner Barrie Rycroft, “been taken to another level”. And he’s well-placed to do just that, because he’s the managing director of leading Japanese import specialist DCY Europe. He had planned to keep the car for his own use, but reckons he’s now “scared to take it out because it really is that good”.
“I imported it from Japan three years ago and wanted to make it perfect with that near-concours feel,” says Rycroft. “Nothing has been missed. The interior wasn’t in bad nick, but I’ve had the seats re-trimmed in Nappa because the leather wasn’t that good in the NSX originally. I took it to the Seat Surgeon in York and they managed to replicate the crinkle cut of the original leather.”
The attention to detail includes a new gear knob and gaiter. There was nothing wrong, they were just slightly worn.
The car has a few key upgrades that probably make it unique. It arrived from Japan fitted with a Modulo suspension kit, a rare upgrade kit offered by Honda for a short period in the mid-1990s. New stainless-steel manifolds have allowed the removal of the catalytic converters, which Rycroft believes strangles the exhaust note. There are also new factory rims, 19in at the rear, 18in at the front, in place of the original 16in and 15in wheels, which are included in the price.
The car has 49,000 miles on the clock and is being offered at £64,885.
