Nigel Snowdon
This highly regarded photographer, who has died aged 79, was a familiar figure in international paddocks from the early1960s until the late 1980s. Snowdon was born in England but moved to Australia in 1955. It was here that he developed a passion for motor sport photography and he returned to the UK in 1963, to forge a new career. His work was widely acclaimed and published by many clients, including Autocourse, for whom he was chief photographer for 15 years. He had retired to Brisbane, Australia, where he lived with wife Diana Burnett a fine photographer in her own right.

Jeremy Lord
Successful sports car racer and British F3 boss Jeremy Lord has died after at short illness, aged 74. A solicitor by profession, Lord graduated from Clubmans to race in the Motoring News Sports GT Championship at the turn of the 1970s, with a Ford Cosworth FVA-engined Astra and then a Lola T212FVC. He won the title in 1970, ’71 and ’73. As Formula Three Association (FOTA) secretary, he ran British F3 from the late 1980s until 2008.

Jason Leffler
NASCAR driver Jason Leffler, 37, succumbed to injuries sustained in a sprint car race at Bridgeport Speedway on June 12. The twice Nationwide Series race winner was pronounced dead after being airlifted to hospital. Leffler, who made his seasonal Sprint Cup debut the previous weekend at Pocono, started out in the LISAC midget ranks and won the prestigious Silver Crown title in 1998. He graduated to NASCAR in 1999 and also made two IndyCar starts with Treadway Racing.
